The finance field requires extensive knowledge and experience before you get better positions or promotions. That is what I lacked for the few years I worked in the finance industry. And, my employer disregarded my advice because of my age and inexperience. To gain more experience, I would have opted to stay in employment for several years. But, even then, I could have failed to get the experience of advising investors. That is why I decided to resign after several years as a financial employee. And I didn’t regret making the decision. It is almost two years from when I made that decision, and I don’t regret it.
As a worker in the finance industry, I had to be patient to earn respect, and more so at the age of 24. That’s because people found it hard to trust me with their money at that age. I would not blame them either because I would also do the same if I worked with such a young person.
To get to the top, I had to wait patiently for my time when people could have respected me. But, there was another route I could have taken and achieved the same results within a short time. And that is the path I took.
Before quitting my job, I visited Brazil for two weeks. When I was planning my visit, there was a particular company I was targeting. However, I didn’t have enough information about the firm. Neither did I know anything about Brazilian politics and culture. However, I made the right choice by visiting the country because I got a lot of information about the company that influenced my trip. Besides, I got a chance to understand Brazilian politics and their rich culture.
Resigning from my job when at a young age has given me a chance to visit different counties, which could have been difficult if I could still be an employee. If I decide to go back to employment, I will have the experience that would have taken me several years to gain.
I made a tough decision when I decided to resign. Even if I chose to stay in employment, maybe by now I could be getting half of the salary I was earning. Or, I could have even lost my job, and I could be moving from office to office looking for another job.
When I resigned, I had to come up with other money-making schemes. That involved being creative regardless of my young age. That made me learn new skills I could have never realized when I was still in employment.
My employer was not bothered when I decided to resign. That’s because the person who took my place had enough experience. My employer did not have to waste time teaching them about finance issues like they did in my case. The company was happy with the replacement because my replacement added value to the company and assisted the company better.
It has been only a few years since I quit my finance job, but I have achieved so much. Within a short time, I have traveled to different counties, built businesses, and became more famous amongst the people who have benefited from my advice. If I didn’t resign, I couldn’t have had these opportunities. If I go back to the same job today, I will be more confident because I have enough experience to advise all those who might require my guidance.
I’m just happy to have made the right decision because I have learned so much in a short time.
